Mayte Hellenthal is a studied architect [B.Sc.] , with experience in several international design-build projects with emphasis on participatory natural construction and social architecture. She is an autodidact in the craft of ceramics, woodwork, goldsmithing and sewing and has been working artistically with materials such as clay, textiles, stone, metal, plaster etc.
Her studies in architecture and her versatile aesthetic interests and craftmen-ships have naturally led her to follow her passion of production design & scenography. Her debut as a production designer was for the feature film "Ein schöner Ort“ by european film award winning filmmaker Katharina Huber, which premiered in Locarno 2022. Together with Filmfaust and Kim Lea Sakkal she recently celebrated the premiere of "Immaculata" in Cannes 2024 where she worked as Head Production Designer together with Hella Vohrmann.
Her most recent film "Hysteria" directed by Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay premieres at the Berlinale 2025 in the Panorama section.
